lADDERS Once for a class, I created a ladder made from feathers, fiddling around with the idea of transcendence, ascendance and flight. The image of a ladder stays with me still as a pleasing form that has a specific function: to assist one to rise above. As I draw or paint the ladder, I put myself on each rung, moving up; this gives me a strange feeling of being inside the piece and able to reach a place above the edge of the page. |
